A real case for my Saudi-owned client. He runs a decoration company based in Qatar. His main business is decoration for residential and commercial properties. His team handles the design, and all required building materials, custom cabinetry, doors, windows, flooring, furniture, and other products are sourced from China and shipped to Qatar by sea.
First Time Sourcing in China
During his first visit to China, he had little experience with the local market. One of his friends referred him to an Egyptian middleman who had been living in China more than ten years.
When he started sourcing in China, he thought it was very simple. He gave the middleman the money to purchase the goods after he returned to Qatar, and to help him with sourcing in China.
But looking to reduce costs and increase his own margins, the middleman used his money to order some lower-grade products:
- Sofas with uneven stitching
- Wardrobe doors made with poor-quality infill materials
- Leftover and overstock flooring from factories
When the shipment arrived in Qatar, the goods could not meet the requirements for his projects. The problem was not only that he could not use the products, but also that it had a significant impact on his business. He spent money to buy the experience.
Second Sourcing Trip to China
For his second sourcing trip to China, the client decided to work with a professional and reliable local team. He is accustomed to a high standard of living. For this trip, we provided full-service, premium on-the-ground support throughout his stay.
We arranged private airport pickup, dedicated business transportation, hotel booking, trip arrangements...
Before travelling to China, he made the travel schedule. When we reviewed his itinerary, we found that all the information was compiled by AI. One wholesale building-hardware market on his list had closed only months earlier and had been redeveloped into a general-purpose shopping mall, with no building-material vendors remaining on-site. We revised and rebuilt his travel plan.
Targeted Requirement Matching
We toured many industrial hubs across Foshan for building supplies, furniture, and custom-made interior solutions alongside him. His priorities were clear. For personal use, he prioritised premium aesthetics and top-tier materials. For bulk commercial project orders, stability, durability, project-based pricing, and suitability for sea freight were the key considerations.
We visited numerous upscale showrooms, furniture galleries, and high-end building-material outlets. Many products were well finished but carried retail-level prices that did not make sense for him, so we filtered them out. We focused on factory-direct sources, project-specific product lines, export-grade quality, and cost-effective supply chains.

We evaluated the full product range, including kitchen cabinets, built-in wardrobes, system doors and windows, flooring, soft furnishings, and project-grade hardware. For each category, we assessed quality, craftsmanship, ex-factory prices, minimum order quantities, after-sales terms, and export track records. Ultimately, we shortlisted two to three reliable original manufacturers in each category to serve as his long-term suppliers. The client intends to place future project-related orders for Qatar with these pre-vetted factories.
Client Feedback
When the first batch of goods arrived in Qatar, we followed up with the client regarding the quality-control results. After inspecting the shipment, the client expressed strong satisfaction. The quality met the standards required for his construction projects.
A successful business model depends on reliable operational support behind the scenes. Based in China, we provide this kind of on-the-ground supply-chain support for international businesses. If you also need this service, please feel free to contact us.
